GREEN CREDENTIALS
HOW GREEN IS A HAWKSBECK GARDEN ROOM?
At Hawksbeck we take our corporate responsibility to the environment seriously. We want to build garden rooms for life and that means protecting our planet for future generations. Our green credentials start by using SIPs (structurally insulated panels). They use 65% less timber than traditional building methods. Our SIP manufacturing facility is carbon neutral and our SIPs are classified as an Eco build, which means they are 100% recyclable. All our insulation is EPS (expanded polystyrene), which is zero rated for ODP (ozone depletion potential) and GWP (global warming potential).

At Hawksbeck, we take pride in our commitment to sustainable practices and reducing our environmental impact. As part of our green initiatives, we actively purchase and utilise electric vehicles whenever possible. By incorporating electric vehicles into our fleet, we significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to cleaner air quality, promoting a healthier and greener environment.
In addition to our electric vehicles, we have adopted the use of ground screws as an alternative to concrete whenever appropriate. Ground screws offer several advantages in terms of sustainability. Not only are they more environmentally friendly, but they also minimise the disturbance to the natural ecosystems and reduce the need for extensive concrete production, which can be resource-intensive and carbon-heavy. By opting for ground screws, we prioritise sustainability and minimise our ecological footprint.
We are also proud to mention that Sedum roofs have become a standard planning condition in a majority of London’s projects. However, what sets us apart is not only our compliance with planning regulations but our proactive approach in assisting clients to actively choose Sedum roofs as well. Sedum roofs provide numerous benefits, including improved thermal insulation, reduced rainwater runoff, and increased biodiversity. By encouraging and implementing Sedum roofs, we contribute to the urban greening efforts of London and create sustainable and eco-friendly spaces for our clients.
At Hawksbeck, our green credentials extend beyond mere compliance. We believe that by adopting and promoting sustainable practices such as utilising electric vehicles and ground screws, as well as implementing Sedum roofs, we play a vital role in protecting the environment and creating a greener future for all.
