Garden Room Fitness Studio – Waltham Forest, London

At Hawksbeck Garden Rooms, we are passionate about creating bespoke outdoor spaces that reflect the unique lifestyles and needs of our clients. A recent London project saw us working with homeowners who wanted to build their own personal fitness studio right in their garden – a dedicated space where they could install their own gym equipment and enjoy private workouts at home. The brief was clear: a functional, stylish, and comfortable environment that wouldn’t take over their entire garden.

Tailored Design Using Our Classic Range

After exploring various design possibilities during our consultation phase, we collectively decided that a model from our Classic Range would be the best fit. This garden room range offers clean lines and versatile layouts, allowing us to maximise the use of the available space without overwhelming the rest of the garden.

The positioning and proportions of the garden room were carefully planned to create a natural flow between the original property, the new garden room, and the remaining outdoor area. The result was a balanced layout that retained a generous portion of garden space while adding a perfectly bespoke garden studio.

Sleek and Durable Composite Cladding

For the exterior finish, the clients opted for composite cladding, an increasingly popular choice for garden rooms. Composite cladding combines long-lasting durability with a modern style, making it ideal for a year-round home garden gym. It’s resistant to moisture, rot, and pests, and requires minimal upkeep, which is perfect for busy homeowners.

Visually, the composite cladding adds a contemporary touch that complements both the natural garden setting and the structure’s modern purpose.

Sliding French Doors for Light and Easy Access

To enhance the usability of the space, we installed sliding French doors at the front of this bespoke garden room. These doors not only flood the interior with natural light, creating an energising workout environment, while also providing wide access, making it easy for the clients to bring in gym equipment such as bikes or weights.

The doors also allow the garden gym to feel more connected to the outdoors, which contributes to a calming, spacious atmosphere ideal for fitness and wellbeing.

Built-in Comfort and Privacy Features

We also incorporated a number of smart features to ensure the garden gym would remain comfortable in all seasons. One feature was the installation of a small air conditioning system, ensuring the space remains cool and ventilated even during intense workout sessions or hot summer days.

To complement this, we added a high-set window on the side of the structure. This window allows for extra airflow and natural light while maintaining privacy, an essential consideration, given the proximity of neighbouring properties.

This project is a perfect example of how a custom designed garden room can transform unused space into a high-performance fitness studio. With a thoughtful layout, quality materials, and smart features, our clients now enjoy the benefits of their own private gym, just steps from their back door.
