There is one simple answer to this question – insulation. The right amount of insulation is key to getting the temperature right in your garden room. It keeps the building cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Without the right insulation, your garden room could be unusable in extreme weather. A well-built garden room is a great investment and a great addition to your home. Many cheaper alternatives are a waste of time and money.

Hawksbeck Garden Rooms are leading the way in creating beautiful, bespoke garden rooms that are built to building regulation standards. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service and the best garden rooms on the market. All our buildings are built to building regulation standards and we offer a building inspector approval service. So you can be reassured that your garden room not only looks beautiful on the outside, but is built beautifully from the inside out too.

Now listen up, here is the science bit. There is an industry-standard measure for the way heat is transmitted through insulation. That is called the u-value. The lower the u-value the more slowly heat is able to transmit through it and therefore the better it performs as an insulator. Simply put, the lower the u-value the better insulated your garden room is. There are target u-values set by building regulations in the UK. These u-values form part of your building regulation approval by the building inspector. All Hawksbeck Garden Rooms are built with exceptional u-values. UK building regulations set a u-value target for roofs of 0.18. Hawksbeck Garden Rooms all achieve that target as standard.

When it comes to walls, the UK Building regulation standard is 0.28 and Hawkbeck beats that at 0.25. For floors, the UK building regulation standard is 0.22 and we again beat that at 0.21. So when you build your garden room with a quality supplier like Hawksbeck, you know your garden room is properly insulated and is more cost effective to heat and cool while also being environmentally friendly.

So how do we achieve all this? We do this by using Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs). SIPs have excellent u-values as the insulation is built into the panel. Our SIP manufacturers are award-winning and offer different thickness of SIP panels which offer different levels of insulation.

And what about heating? Most of our clients choose an air conditioning unit because it can heat, cool and dehumidify your garden room all from one unit.

And the finishing touches – windows and doors. We offer a range of double-glazed windows and doors. French, sliding and bifolds are hugely popular. They create a great feeling of space and light in the garden room. We offer integral blinds within the glass of the bifold doors, which come in a range of colours. These can be pulled up and down automatically or manually.
