AIRBNB ANNEXE, WIMBLEDON
Emily and James contacted Hawksbeck needing extra space. With three children they wanted extra accommodation for when family and friends visited, therefore bespoke garden room from Hawksbeck was the perfect answer!
Working with Emily and James, a design was drawn up by our Architect that made the most out of the space available. Once Emily and James were happy with the design and planning permission was achieved, then the Hawksbeck team could begin work on construction of the garden room.
Firstly, the garden area where the annex needed to go was cleared down to make space for the foundations and to ensure that it was easy to connect to vital services from the main property such as waste connections, water and electricity. Once the foundations were laid, then within a short space of time, the main construction of the garden room annex could take place.
All Hawksbeck garden rooms and garden annexes are constructed with a ground-breaking material called SIP’s (structural insulated panels), which are not only beneficial from an environmental aspect, but provide a superior level of insulation meaning your garden room can be used all year round through hot and cold weather. Once the main structure was completed then the roof can be added followed by any glazing.
Sliding patio doors were added as the entrance to the garden room, which leads through to a bright and airy living room, complete with sofa, TV and a brilliant storage cupboard housing a microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. A small corridor with extra storage and wardrobes, leads through to the cosy bedroom area towards the back of the garden room annex. The bedroom has access to a well designed shower area and toilet, perfect for overnight guests.
Our clients decided to decorate the space in a beautiful neutral colour, making the interior feel bright but cosy. Finally lighting was chosen in order to help family and guests easily access the annex at night time.
Living in the leafy London suburb of Wimbledon also meant that Emily and James were able to use the opportunity to earn extra rental income from their garden room by letting it out on Airbnb!
