The Brief

Our latest project in Loughton, Essex saw us create a bespoke 16sqm garden gym designed to help our client achieve their fitness goals without leaving home. They wanted a dedicated workout space that felt bright, motivating and practical, while complementing the style of their property and garden.

The finished result is a contemporary Classic Range garden room that combines premium materials, thoughtful design and exceptional craftsmanship to create a fully functional home gym that can be enjoyed all year round.

A Stylish Exterior

As part of our popular Classic Range, this garden gym offers a timeless design with a modern finish. The front and side elevations are clad in beautiful Western Red Cedar, bringing warmth and natural character to the building while blending seamlessly into the surrounding garden.

To create a striking contrast, the remaining side and rear elevations are finished in durable black Hardie® Plank cladding. This low-maintenance material provides excellent weather resistance while giving the building a clean, contemporary appearance from every angle.

Maximising Light and Space

Natural light plays an important role in creating an enjoyable workout environment. To maximise brightness, we installed three-panel anthracite grey aluminium bifold doors across the front elevation. These allow the space to open directly onto the garden, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection and making the gym feel even more spacious.

To further enhance the interior, two small anthracite grey windows were added to the side elevation. These bring additional daylight into the room while maintaining privacy and contributing to the sleek, modern design.

Designed for Fitness

Every aspect of the interior has been tailored to create a professional-quality home gym. The room is fully equipped with a treadmill, weight bench and free weights, providing everything needed for a varied fitness routine.

A full-height wall mirror helps create the feeling of a larger space while allowing the client to monitor their form during workouts. A wall-mounted television completes the setup, making training sessions more enjoyable and helping to keep motivation high, whether following online classes or watching entertainment while exercising.

Built for Year-Round Use

Like every Hawksbeck Garden Room, this garden gym has been designed for year-round performance. The building features a modern flat roof finished with a high-quality EPDM rubber membrane, offering outstanding durability and long-lasting protection against the elements.

Combined with premium construction methods and quality materials, the garden room provides a comfortable environment in every season, allowing the client to enjoy their fitness space whatever the weather.
